Hotel Overview
Situated on nearly six acres, Hilton Washington offers a
contemporary urban resort on upper Connecticut Avenue in northwest
Washington, DC 4 blocks to Dupont Circle and the Dupont Circle
Metro Station on the Red Line. The hotel has on-site dining, lobby
lounge and sports bar, and is within steps of embassies, galleries,
dining, shopping and nightlife as the hotel sits at the center of
DC’s most sought after neighborhoods – Adams Morgan,
Embassy Row, Woodley Park, Rock Creek Park and the U Street
Corridor. Hilton Washington also offers easy access to all of the
best experiences in the nation’s capital: monuments and
museums, Capitol Hill and the Convention Center, Downtown and
Georgetown.
The hottest neighborhood in the nation’s capital –
the U Street Corridor – begins just three blocks from the
hotel, where jazz legend Duke Ellington played his first notes.
Shop at independently-owned boutiques and spas, hang out at
eclectic coffee shops, and dine at the hippest restaurants in DC.
Ben’s Chili Bowl, famous for its dishes and for its drop-in
customers, is also found on U Street. Two blocks from Hilton
Washington, Adams Morgan reigns as the destination for world
cuisine and live music hotspots. Just down the street, Dupont
Circle sets a more leisure pace with gastro-pubs, bistros and a
farmers market. And outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy heading north of
the hotel, with Rock Creek Park just blocks away and the National
Zoo a one-mile walk along a tree-lined avenue with outdoor cafes
and dining spots.
Since opening in 1965, Hilton Washington has been the site of
prestigious gatherings hosted by U.S. presidents, world leaders and
prominent figures. The hotel provides 110,000 square feet of
flexible function space with advanced technologies, Hilton’s
signature “Blue Coat” meeting and event support, and an
unmatchable catering and banquets team. The hotel boasts one of the
largest column-free ballrooms on the east coast – its
legendary 36,000 square-foot International Ballroom complex. In
2010, the hotel will be fully renovated with an additional new
7,000 square foot dedicated Meeting Center and 30,000 square foot
multi-purpose hall.
Currently, Hilton Washington is undergoing a $140
million landmark restoration project and in 2010 the hotel will
unveil a top-to-bottom complete renovation of all guestrooms,
lobby, restaurants and meeting space. Current efforts involve
ongoing guestroom renovations in isolated sections of the hotel and
intermittent activity on the outdoor Terrace Level
grounds.
